르네가 종종 빈센트에게 짖궂은 장난을 친 얘기를 하는 아들린.

Adeline:  「They would often joke around with Vincent,」 especially Rene. Rene could also take it a little far. Poor Vincent. He nearly painted, but then Rene would buy him a drink to apologize. He was like that; always picking up the tab, always buying people drinks.
(그들은 자주 빈센트에게 장난을 쳤죠. 특히 르네가요. 르네는 좀 심한 편이었어요. 가엾은 빈센트. 거의 기절할 지경이었죠. 하지만 르네는 술 한잔 사는 걸로 사과했죠. 그는 늘 그런 식이었어요. 항상 사람들에게 술을 샀어요.)

마을 사람들과 다툼을 벌인 후 경찰에게 붙잡혀 간 아르망.

Armand:  Vincent generated more letters than a town, or so it was sort of a business relationship. (빈센트가 마을 사람들 전체보다 더 많은 양의 편지를 썼거든요. 그러니 일종의 업무관계죠.)
Policeman:  So what business do you have here? (그럼 당신은 무슨 일로 여기에 온 건가요?)
Armand:  Well, 「I have an appointment with Dr. Gachet」 to talk about Vincent. (가셰 박사와 약속이 있어요.)
Policeman:  I had me eye on him right from the start. (난 처음부터 그자를 눈여겨봤죠.)

빈센트가 자살한 게 아니라고 주장하는 마저리 박사를 찾아간 아르망.

Dr. Mazery:
I would never send a report, normally. I mean this was Gachet's case. Then I read that the patient died two days later in his room. So I felt that I should for the record. I asked the patient how it happened? He said he had shot himself, but I knew he hadn't. 「I could tell by his wound.」
(평소같으면 보고서를 보내지 않아요. 가셰의 환자니까요. 하지만 그 환자가 이틀 후 방에서 죽었다는 기사를 봤죠. 그래서 기록을 남겨야겠다고 생각했어요. 그 환자한테 어찌 된 일이냐고 물었죠. 자살 시도를 했다더군요. 하지만 사실이 아니란 걸 알았죠. 그의 상처를 보면 알 수 있으니까요.)

다시 마르그리트를 만나 결국 두 사람 사이의 진실을 듣게 되는 아르망.

Marguerite: You want to know so much about his death, but what do you know of his life?
Armand: I know that he tried hard to prove he was good for something.
Marguerite: Yes, he did. That's why I take flowers to his grave. 「That's all I can do for him now.」 He would appreciate the delicate beauty of their bloom. (... 그는 꽃의 섬세한 아름다움을 알아볼 거예요.)
